ABOUT US
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) was developed by Drs. Klerman and Weissman in the 1960's at Yale University. IPT is a time limited (8-12 session) evidenced based treatment for adults, adolescents and geriatric patients/clients suffering from depression. It has been recommended in American and Canadian Psychiatric and Psychological Treatment Guidelines as a first line gold standard treatment with equal efficacy to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). IPT can be provided individually, for couples, in groups and for families.
IPT has been adapted to treat dysthymia, postpartum depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder PTSD and medical illnesses occurring with depression.

Dr. Ronald Frey and Cindy Goodman Stulberg are Psychologists and Directors of the Institute for Interpersonal Psychotherapy. Combined they have almost fifty years of clinical experience working with patients who have depresssion and other mental health disorders. For the past twenty years they have trained and supervised mental health clinicians including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists in Canada, the United States and Europe learning IPT.
They both have been interviewed by media outlets and Dr. Frey has testified in the Canadian Senate on PTSD and the military. Their trainings receive rave reviews from participants.

OUR SERVICES
ONSITE TRAINING
We bring the two day IPT workshop to your setting and provide mental health clincians the same program that you receive in Toronto. We individualize the teaching to your participants needs based on your client population.

SUPERVISION
Supervision is available after completing the two day IPT workshop or equivalent at another recognized IPT training program. It can be provided individually or in a small group setting using secure online services.
BOOSTER SESSIONS
​
Clinicians who have been trained and supervised receive a half day booster session to review IPT cases, enhance skills and receive updated IPT research information.
VISITOR'S VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON TRAINING
Mental health clincians attend a two day IPT workshop in Toronto. Participants view videotapes of client sessions, practice IPT skills and receive trainor feedback.
CERTIFICATION
The Academy of Interpersonal Psychotherapy certifies clincians in IPT based on the standards set by the IPT UK program and endorsed by the International Society of Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
ONLINE COUNSELLING
